The American Cancer Society claims (circa 2015) in no uncertain terms, 'Half of all men and one-third of all women in the US will develop cancer during their lifetimes.' That doesn't sound in the least like the type of odds I like to see. Especially when you consider people are living longer than ever in our 'advanced,' modern age. No, I'd like to see such odds drop drastically - and fast!
And is there something YOU can do to make a 'positive dent' in them? And: Can you prevent yourself from becoming just another statistic in the process? I say, 'No doubt!' In fact, there's a simple lifestyle that virtually guarantees in my opinion, that you'll live out your years in active, joyful good health - rather than in what I call 'sedentary misery.'
I enjoyed a good workout this morning. 700 squats, push-ups and crunches, followed by 7-mile run over all manner of terrain - grass, pitted concrete, gravel, and more. And I can tell you this: I covered ground more quickly and effortlessly than ever before in my life. Yes, it often seems I can do things in terms of overall fitness, I'd not have dreamed of just a few short years ago. Most importantly: I actually now ENJOY - more than ever! - the process of pushing myself toward what some call 'unheard of limits.'
And the best part?
I'm doing this at an age many in western culture (rife with poor dietary habits, prescription drugs, and more mind-numbingly useless TV watched daily than I'd recommend in a lifetime) deem 'over the hill.' And I guarantee: You can duplicate my results. Perhaps you'll even outdo them. At this point, I've worked with enough people to KNOW that you've got the potential. No matter who you are.
What it takes: A few square feet of open space for calisthenics. A pair of cheap running shoes or sandals. Mine are home-made for just a few dollars per pair. It also helps if you adopt an attitude of, 'If he can do it, so can I!' Is there a caveat? Just this: All the exercise in the world will do you no good if you load up burgers, chips, beer and other foods deemed acceptable by the largely-sedentary, mass of Western Man.
No, my friend. If you want the best of yourself, you'll have to fuel your body with the good stuff - fresh, organic fruits, vegetables and the like. As these foods have been PROVEN beyond all doubt to drastically reduce the incidence of cancer (and all degenerative disease) in societies making them the bulk of their diet.
Read Dr. Campbell's The China Study for more on that.
In fact: The VAST majority of each dish you eat ought to be comprised of simple, unaltered plant foods. Make fruits and vegetables the OVERWHELMING majority of all you eat. I'm talking 80 to 90%! Make 'main courses,' snacks and overly fatty foods, side items at most. Yes, I realize: This is the direct OPPOSITE of what's practiced, taught and preached in 99% of modern, western homes and eateries. Yet how well has THAT approach worked? Given the evidence, I'd say...
Particularly when you consider about half of all Americans are now projected to 'come down with' cancer at some point in their lifetimes. Don't be among them. Especially, when it's just as simple - and far more enjoyable! - to embrace a lifestyle that virtually guarantees you'll live out your years NOT in pain and 'sedentary misery,' but in joy and active good health.
Now then: I'm now ready for a good hearty, post-workout meal. I believe I'll go with a huge green salad, steamed veggies, and a baked potato - with crushed tomato and lemon juice for dressing. It's pure, good stuff. More: It's good fuel for a lifestyle worth living! I like it. I have for more than two decades now. Try it for a few weeks, my friend. And I'd put money on it...
You shall too.
